Kaos Times - Winter 2011
Los Kaos are having what I can confidently call our busiest year ever, things have been crazy round here, so apologies for the delay in this eagerly-awaited edition of Kaos Times!
On the upside we have built a fabulous new workshop in what was previously our rather tumbledown and flood-affected barn. It is now unrecognisable inside with great lighting, shelving to the eaves, custom made work benches and, best of all, loads for insulation and a good wood burner to keep us toasty all year round. This workspace has already revolutionised what we can do – no more freezing in the dark cellar for us!
Having finished the barn conversion and with the paint still drying we were fortunate enough to get commissioned to build another polar bear for a show out in Hong Kong this winter, so the bit marked ‘holiday’ was hastily rubbed off the calendar and we set to with the foam, fur and glue creating what we believe to be our finest creation to date.
Tiny the Dinosaur has been very busy and put in great performances at some of the UK’s leading street festivals such as the Kendal MintFest, Witham International Puppet Festival and Essex StreetDiversions, wowing the crowds and introducing lots of people to the verb ‘thagamize’ – see the show if you want to know more! There is some great new video in the pipeline just as soon as we get back from the winter tour and finish the editing.
Bjorn is covering the miles this season with shows all over the UK from Cardiff to Edinburgh and Norwich to Manchester. He will be finishing off the year in the IFC centre on Hong Kong island which will be his first trip to China. I have a feeling that he is getting a taste for travel having been out to Abu Dhabi earlier in the year to perform for Princess (Sheka) Hassa’s birthday – it must be the airline food that does it…
Finally we welcomed two new performers to the world of Kaos this year, Bob, who is puppeteering with both Bjorn and Tiny, and Andrew who can be spotted presenting the show alongside Bjorn this season.
